My way of documenting what I receive each month in my Birchbox shipments. Note: I am in no way affiliated with Birchbox, nor am I being asked to or paid to write about them. I pay for my Birchbox shipments and simply enjoy sharing my experience with you.
What is Birchbox? For $10 a month Birchbox will send you between 4 and 5 deluxe samples of various beauty products from various brands (usually high-end and luxury brands). It's a great way to try out new brands you never heard of, as well as brands you've heard of time and time again. You'll get to try out some of the most popular products from those brands, as well as their newest items - sometimes you may even have the first peek at a new product! Some shipments even include little bonuses, like smaller sized samples of products, edible items, or unique items. You may even receive a full sized product in some shipments! Although you're not guaranteed to receive any full sized products, I have received a couple full size product in the past. Most deluxe sample sizes you'll receive are between a fourth and half of the full sized product. You really do get your money's worth - most shipments are valued between $25 and $30. I do a value breakdown in each Birchbox shipment post so you can see the approximate value. You can pay for a year's service in advance, which gives you a slight discount, or sign up once and $10 will be deducted each month (which is what I do). Birchbox is also a resource for purchasing the full sized versions of the samples you receive (plus many other products). You earn points for purchasing full sized items, which can be redeemed for a free item once you accumulate enough points. You also earn points for leaving feedback on the products you were sent. They also have free shipping and sale events from time to time. Shipments do vary between Birchbox customers, which is something I didn't know at first. I just assumed everyone received the same items, but that is not the case at all. Sometimes it's small differences, like receiving a different shade of nail polish, or a different flavor of lip balm. Other times you may receive a completely different item or completely different set of items. Not knowing exactly what you'll receive is part of the fun, at least for me it is! A big part of what you receive will depend on what your Birchbox beauty profile is set to. If you're not happy with the shipments you receive you should try changing up your beauty profile until you find the right combo of answers to get products that make you happiest. You can't choose to receive just makeup samples, or just skincare samples; instead you receive an assortment of products each month. Some months are mostly skincare, other months are mostly makeup, but a lot of months give you a good assortment of items. Both myself and my husband each receive a Birchbox shipment monthly. I finally ordered one for him because whatever I wasn't using he was stealing from me. I figured if he received a box each month we'd both get to find items that work for us.
